This year, we're helping to raise awareness on the impact of Loneliness on people's mental health. Loneliness has a huge impact on our physical and mental health, and whilst the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the delivery of mental health services globally, we're working with organisations to provide the support that effectively reaches, engages and benefits every employee.
For many employees, mental health has come under enormous, prolonged strain, and providing support in this area remains a critical priority for employers. Mercer Marsh Benefits in collaboration with Make A Difference, have designed a new digital workplace mental health training course to help employees thrive and perform at their best. For our latest MMB Health Trends global insurer report, we wanted to explore how organisations are managing the costs and risks of employer-provided healthcare in a changing world. We surveyed 210 insurers across 59 countries to find out more about how they are evolving their offerings in the wake of the pandemic.
With emotional and mental health ranking as the #2 risk in influencing the costs of employer provided plans, it’s important that employers look for ways to support their employees' mental health. Education and training courses that help to equip employees with hints and tips to encourage positive mental health are a good starting point. In this respect, workplace education is key in the drive to smash the stigma around mental health issues. In a recent mental health webinarthat we hosted, more than a third of participants favoured online training, with a 30-minute timeframe the most popular option.
